Spanish LIKE YOU’VE NEVER TASTED BEFOREBienvenidas a Español 1/2 –
There are lots of goods reasons for learning Spanish besides the fact that 2 years of a foreign language is a requirement for graduation at La Academia del Verbo Encarnado (Incarnate Word Academy). The United States has the fifth largest Spanish-speaking population in the world – 45 million people. In the U.S. chances are that if you meet someone who doesn’t speak English, they probably will speak Spanish. Knowing Spanish is an advantage and will be even more so in the future. Even here in St. Louis, you be surprised to find quite a few Spanish speakers you can practice with. Spanish will even help you with English. Did you know that according to research, high-school students with 2 years of a foreign language score up to 12% higher on the Standardized Tests? Vivan las chicas de IWA!

HOLA :) I am the new Spanish Teacher at Incarnate Word Academy, and you can call me Maestra Paola. "Maestra" means female teacher in Spanish and I love teaching my native language as well as sharing my culture. I was born and raised in Juarez, Mexico right on the border with El Paso, Tx. Back in my hometown, I was a Psychology major and later I earned an MA in Spanish from the University of Wyoming in 2013. (Here is a picture of me and my baby niece Paulina at a plaza in Ciudad Juarez) |

My Spanish teaching experience includes pre-school, middle school, the first year of college and now I am starting my new adventure in teaching high school at Incarnate Word Academy. I can not wait to see you in my classroom! (...and here is a picture of me being goofy by the lake in Chicago. Did you know that the Windy City has the 5th largest Hispanic community in the U. S.?)
